Larry Lynch
In 1974, Mr. Lynch joined IBM as a systems engineer working with key customers throughout the state of Florida. During his 30 plus year career with IBM, he was located in Tallahassee and held multiple marketing positions, as well as worked with both education and governmental customers to solve complex business systems problems utilizing IBM based solutions. During his last 10 years at IBM, Mr. Lynch was the Senior Client Executive responsible for the State of Florida governmental customers.
Following his retirement from IBM in 2004, Mr. Lynch began working with the Florida State University Office of Intellectual Properties and Commercialization where he was charged with working directly with researchers on campus to discover, develop and commercialize new business opportunities based on FSU research projects. Mr. Lynch helped create numerous new companies and multiple licensing contracts based on university research.
In October 2010, he joined the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County as the Director of the organization’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Program. The program was created to provide resources to small high-tech companies trying to make their start in the commercial marketplace. He was tasked with developing and implementing a tuition-based course covering such basics as visioning, marketing, customer service and training, finance, entrepreneurship skills and development. He was also charged with assisting start up firms through the vulnerable stages of business development by recruiting a team of university and private sector business experts, researchers and specialists to help the entrepreneurs identify commercial markets and create solid business plans.
Mr. Lynch has lived in Leon County for more than 40 years and holds a degree in Biology from Florida State University. He is married to Rene’ and has three grown children.
