EDC’s International Focus Helps Region’s Businesses Capitalize on Global Markets
The fact that Tallahassee competes on a global stage for jobs and capital investment is certainly not lost on the EDC. In fact, the EDC is structured to leverage the international reach of our higher education institutions as well as Florida’s network of business development offices around the globe. EDC’s focus on an international platform helps Tallahassee strengthen its long-term economic prospects and enhance its worldwide presence.
To support the businesses in Florida’s Capital Region and show all our area has to offer, the EDC:
- secures grants that allow local companies to participate in state-led trade missions;
- examines benefits of new and expanding international resources;
- markets the region at international trade shows;
- hosts numerous Consul officials;
- represents the region through official sister city partnerships; and
- provides education, information and advocacy to regional business executives and organizations.
These efforts are resulting in Tallahassee receiving well-deserved attention. Adding to our community’s growing list of acclaims, Tallahassee was recently listed among the top 100 International Innovation Leaders across the globe and top 30 in the Americas. Also, the EDC was recently honored for its Excellence in International Business Development by the Florida Economic Development Council.
Through an experienced advisory council, educational forums, trade missions and key resources, the EDC provides support for local businesses looking to export goods and services or attract foreign direct investment.
